How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not uncommon for folks to assume that single-truck accidents must have been a result of driver error. I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades, though. I’ve seen plenty of cases where, no matter how things appeared on the surface, that turned out not to have been the case. That is why, as a general rule, I avoid jumping to conclusions.
While driver error, as far as I am aware, remains on the table as a possibility, what if the wreck was actually due to something gone wrong with the truck itself? These are complex machines, after all; any number of things might have happened to cause the truck to veer off of the road. Was it having problems with the steering mechanism? Or maybe it had had a tire blowout? True, these things are less likely, but that doesn’t make them impossible.
Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the truck. That’s what will be able to bring to light any underlying mechanical malfunctions or product defects that might otherwise have fallen through the cracks. In the end, the people affected by this accident deserve real answers based on solid evidence. Surface-level investigation just can’t provide that level of clarity.
