2 Injured in Truck Accident on U.S. 183 in Mills County, TX

The 18-wheeler shifted from the outside lane to the inside lane upon notice of a Mercedez-Benz Sprinter van moving from the right-hand shoulder into the outside lane of the highway. However, the van didn’t just enter the lane of traffic; rather, it continued a sharp left turn, entering the inside lane of traffic as though attempting to turn around. This maneuver resulted in a collision between the front left of the van and the front right of the 18-wheeler. The collision caused the van to go into a spin, its back left making secondary contact with the trailer being towed by the 18-wheeler.

The van came to rest facing northwest in the inside southeast bound lane of the highway. The 18-wheeler crossed over the median and both northwest bound lanes of the highway before leaving the roadway and entering a barrow ditch. After attempting to return to the roadway, the vehicle overturned, coming to rest on its left side, the cab obstructing the outside northwest bound lane of the highway.

The 41-year-old man from the 18-wheeler and the 77-year-old man from the Sprinter both sustained reportedly severe injuries as a result of the incident. They were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time.
