One thing to keep in mind is that initial investigations rarely tell the whole story, and even authorities can miss important details if they’re too hasty in their investigations. For example, I talk a lot about how people tend to jump to conclusions when someone involved in a crash is young and inexperienced. Well, similar bias exists for elderly drivers, as well. Folks just assume the driver made a mistake. Obviously, that’s possible, but there’s no excuse for overlooking other complex possible factors.

Are there issues with the roadway here? Did the vehicle have a defect? Did this involve illegal over-service by an alcohol provider? Did another driver cause the crash and leave the scene? It would surprise folks what can slip through the cracks after these crashes. That’s why it’s sometimes helpful to have measures in place to catch those details and ensure the evidence has an opportunity to speak for itself.
