Hopefully authorities can continue to circulate details about this accident in the public, as the community is one of the best tools authorities have following a hit-and-run. Someone is often able to connect the dots and come forward with information to help identify the runaway driver. I’ve even had a case once where a runaway driver’s girlfriend came forward and turned him in months after the accident. Once that happens, steps can be taken to find out why the driver ran and what consequences will be appropriate going forward. Until then, authorities no doubt want to hear from anyone who may have new details to share.
