Additional details can’t be confirmed right now. That said, I have to wonder if authorities are including a close examination of the victim’s vehicle in their investigations. Here’s why I say this.

Authorities didn’t mention anything about the victim speeding or never using their brakes. If the victim was able to react to the impending crash and was in a safe, modern vehicle, why were their injuries so serious?

Our modern safety standards regarding things like brakes, crumple zones, airbags, and seatbelts should protect people from suffering serious injuries except in more extreme collisions. If someone is seriously injured in a crash where others would be more or less okay, it could be a sign one of those safety features failed due to a defect.

Maybe nothing like that happened here, but if authorities aren’t at least looking into it, they could be missing something important.
