Grayson County, TX — November 17, 2024, two people were injured following a single-car accident at approximately 11:30 p.m. along Sam Rayburn Freeway.
According to authorities, two men ages 32 and 27 were traveling in a northeast bound Dodge Charger on Sam Rayburn Freeway in the vicinity of Gateway drive when the accident took place.

Road conditions in the area at the time were apparently icy or slick. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Charger failed to appropriately control its speed. It was subsequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it struck a light pole, according to reports.
Both men reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a vehicle loses control in icy or slick conditions, many assume the driver was simply going too fast for the weather. While that may be true in some cases, it’s also possible that other factors played a role. Understanding what really happened requires a closer look at key questions.
First, did the authorities conduct a thorough investigation? Weather-related crashes often lead officers to conclude that road conditions were the primary cause. However, did they consider whether the driver attempted to slow down or if the vehicle reacted unpredictably? Were any roadway hazards, such as black ice or pooling water, documented? Without a comprehensive investigation, important details may be missed.
Second, has anyone examined whether a vehicle defect contributed to the wreck? If the Dodge’s traction control, braking system, or tires were compromised, it could have played a major role in the crash. For instance, if the vehicle’s anti-lock braking system failed, the driver may have had little ability to correct a skid. Determining whether mechanical issues were involved requires a detailed vehicle inspection.
Finally, have all available electronic data sources been reviewed? The Dodge’s event data recorder (EDR) could provide key insights, including the vehicle’s speed, braking, and steering inputs before impact. This data can clarify whether the driver took appropriate evasive action or if a sudden mechanical failure prevented proper control.
At the end of the day, answering these questions could be essential to understanding what really happened and why. A thorough examination of all three of these issues—including the quality of police investigations, possible vehicle defects, and electronic data—is the least that can be done to ensure that those affected by the crash receive the clarity they deserve.
