Lampasas County, TX — January 3, 2025, two people were injured in a single-car accident shortly before 10:30 p.m. along County Road 2001.
According to authorities, two men ages 28 and 41 were traveling in a southeast bound Chevrolet C2500 on C.R. 2001 in the vicinity northwest of the U.S. Highway 190 intersection when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Chevrolet failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was subsequently involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident, according to reports.
The 28-year-old man who had been behind the wheel of the vehicle sustained possible injuries, but the 41-year-old passenger suffered reportedly serious injuries. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a single-vehicle rollover accident results in serious injuries, it raises important questions about the circumstances leading to the crash. Drawing on my experience, understanding incidents like this requires asking three key questions: Was the crash thoroughly investigated? Could a vehicle defect or mechanical issue have contributed? And has all relevant electronic data been collected to provide insight into what happened?
First, was the crash thoroughly investigated? Rollover accidents can occur for a variety of reasons, including driver error, road conditions, or environmental factors, but these initial assumptions may overlook important details. Did authorities assess whether the roadway design or surface played a role? Were there any obstacles, debris, or visibility issues that may have caused the Chevrolet to leave its lane? Additionally, given that two people were in the vehicle, it’s worth considering whether distractions, fatigue, or impaired judgment could have played a part. A thorough investigation should address these factors.
Second, could a vehicle defect or mechanical failure have been a factor? Single-vehicle rollovers often raise questions about the stability and functionality of the vehicle itself. Did the Chevrolet have any issues with its tires, suspension, or steering system that might have contributed to a loss of control? Rollovers can also happen if a vehicle is improperly loaded or experiences sudden mechanical failure. A detailed examination of the truck could reveal whether it was operating as intended or if a defect or maintenance issue played a role in the crash.
Finally, has all relevant electronic data been reviewed? Modern vehicles are typically equipped with event data recorders (EDRs), which capture critical information about speed, steering, braking, and other inputs in the moments leading up to an accident. Reviewing this data, as well as any surveillance footage from nearby locations, could help investigators pinpoint exactly what went wrong. Without this information, key aspects of the crash may remain unanswered.
Accidents involving serious injuries demand careful investigation to uncover all contributing factors. By addressing these questions, investigators can provide a clearer understanding of what happened and why. For the injured men and their loved ones, obtaining these answers is a vital step toward clarity and closure.
