Harris County, TX — November 9, 2025, a Harris County Sherrif’s sergeant was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident along FM 1960.
Preliminary details about the crash say it happened overnight at the intersection of FM 1960 and Belleau Wood Drive, between Humble and Atascocita.
Authorities say that officers were in the area doing traffic control for a “large event.” While doing so, a sergeant’s vehicle was hit by a driver suspected of driving while intoxicated. The officer was taken from the scene for treatment. A second alleged drunk driver then crashed into that scene.
Authorities say both drivers were arrested and charged. Additional details are unavailable.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It’s not clear what this supposed event was, but I wonder if the drivers were coming out of that event. If so, there may need to be investigations if that event was serving alcohol. Venues can be responsible for contributing to accidents if evidence shows they provided alcohol to someone who was obviously intoxicated, leading to an accident. Charging drunk drivers is obviously important, but sometimes it’s only half of the story.
