Dallas, TX — April 4, 2024, Samuel Flaherty was killed as the result of a car accident that took place around 9:30 p.m. along the LBJ Freeway.

Initial details about the crash say that it happened in the area of Webb Chapel on the westbound side of I-635.

According to officials, 21-year-old Samuel Flaherty was on foot in the area of the westbound shoulder. A Toyota Tundra was parked on the shoulder. While it was there, authorities say that a Chevy Equinox somehow left its lane, hit the Tundra, then hit Flaherty.

Due to the collision, Samuel Flaherty was fatally injured. No other injuries were confirmed. At this time, additional details about the accident are unavailable.

This is a good example of why it’s important to avoid jumping to conclusions. People hear about someone hit on the freeway, they immediately assume the pedestrian did something wrong. Here, though, it was apparently a driver who couldn’t stay in their lane. So, did this accident get the attention it deserved? Or, did authorities move on before they got the whole story?
