Houston, TX — March 24, 2025, Sakai Patel and one other were injured following a car accident at around 1:10 a.m. along Highway 35.
Initial details about the accident say that it happened at the intersection of Highway 35 and Orem Drive.
According to officials, 18-year-old Sakai Patel was in a Mercedes-Benz going southbound on the highway. A Chevy Silverado was going northbound. That pickup allegedly disregarded the light, and the vehicles collided.
Due to the accident, Sakai Patel and the other driver had reportedly serious injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. Investigations are ongoing.

When details seem straight-forward like they do here, people sometimes just take initial reports at face value and see the matter is closed. After any serious accident, though, it’s important there is ample evidence to get people the resolution they deserve. Insurance companies don’t just accept responsibility because a preliminary police investigations seems open-and-shut. They need to be shown that their only choice is to accept the facts and do what’s right. Were those steps taken here?
