Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

There isn’t a lot of clear information about what happened here, but a few details stick out to me. Authorities say the victim was with a group of cyclists, and this accident happened during daylight hours on a straight stretch of road. Any number of things could happen, but those are generally very favorable conditions for anyone to be aware of their surroundings and able to avoid an accident.

This raises serious concerns either that something very sudden and unexpected happened or that someone perhaps was being impatient or inattentive. Hopefully authorities are giving this accident as much attention as possible to preserve evidence and ensure there’s a clear understanding of how all of this could have been avoided.
