Dallas, TX — July 15, 2024, Robert Helm was injured as the result of a motorcycle accident that happened around 10:12 p.m. along Dallas North Tollway.
Preliminary information about the accident said that it happened along southbound lanes of the tollway near Walnut Hill Drive.
According to officials, 50-year-old Robert Helm was on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle going along DNT. There was reportedly a cardboard box in the roadway which the motorcycle struck. The motorcycle then lost control and slid.
Due to the crash, Robert Helm reportedly sustained serious injuries. There did not appear to be any other vehicles involved in the accident. Authorities have yet to release additional details.

One thing I have to wonder is if witnesses or video footage could help explain where the box in the road came from. It’s possible there was a clearly marked work truck or van that lost it, or perhaps someone was able to get a license plate or a clear description. If that set this whole chain of events into motion, then it may not matter whether or not that driver was still in the area when the crash happened. The law is nuanced enough to trace events like this back to their proximate cause.
