Hidalgo County, TX — July 31, 2024, Ricardo Acosta Hernandez was injured following a car accident shortly after 6:45 p.m. along F.M. 2221.
According to authorities, 47-year-old Ricardo Acosta Hernandez was traveling in a westbound Chevrolet Equinox on F.M. 2221 at the Washington Palm Drive intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck on F.M. 2221 attempted a left turn to head north on Washington Palm Drive at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision between the front-right quarter of the pickup truck and the front-end of the Equinox.
Hernandez suffered reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
