Manatee County, FL — May 15, 2023, three people were killed following a dump truck accident Monday afternoon along County Road 675.

According to initial details provided by the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash took place at County Road 675/Rutland Road and Jim Davis Road.

It appears that three people were in an SUV that was going eastbound along Rutland Road. The occupants were identified only as a 1-year-old man and two women, said to be 71 years old and 80 years old. A dump truck was going westbound along Rutland. Right now, details suggest that the dump truck somehow drifted off the right side of the road while rounding a curve. It then reportedly over-corrected to the left, causing the truck to go left of center and crash into the eastbound SUV.

As a result of the collision, the three SUV occupants all succumbed to fatal injuries. The driver of the truck, said to be a 59-year-old man, sustained unspecified injuries. Right now, it’s unclear what exactly led to the crash. It’s also unclear if any charges or citations are being considered. Investigations are ongoing.
