How Did This Accident Occur?

People often look at vehicle versus bicycle accidents as a matter of who had the right-of-way. That’s obviously an important factor to consider. However, it’s just one of many. Investigations should also consider lighting and signage, road design, possible distractions, alcohol, emergency situations, vehicle speed, and other possible contributing factors. Even if something seems relatively unlikely, the victim’s loved ones deserve to know they’re getting the full story. Maybe authorities will go beyond their initial reports, or maybe all of that will require more thorough independent investigations. Either way, the sooner the victim’s family gets clear answers, the sooner they can decide what next steps are best for them.
