How Did This Accident Occur?
With so few details available surrounding this accident, it’s difficult to come to any solid conclusions. When it comes to pedestrian-involved accidents on dark roads out in the country, people are often quick to jump to the conclusion that they were walking in an unsafe place, either on the roadway itself or too close for their own good. However, I’ve seen cases over the years in which the pedestrians were walking where they should have been safe, but the motor vehicles—whether it was due to unsafe speeds, distraction, impairment, or something else entirely—end up striking them anyway.
Hopefully the authorities are being as thorough and openminded as they should be as they work this case. However, if their work seems to be lacking in any way, then a third party investigation can always be brought in to ensure that nothing important falls through the cracks. After all, the people affected by this accident—the loved ones left behind by the victim—deserve to be given real answers based on solid evidence. That kind of clarity just can’t be provided by surface-level investigation.
