If it’s true that alcohol may have been a factor here, people will generally understand the importance of confirming that. Obviously, drunk driving would call for serious consequences, especially if that’s what ultimately led to this accident. But beyond that, it would also be important to find out where that alcohol from. In drunk driving accidents, it’s important to know if a negligent alcohol provider also contributed to a given accident.
In Texas, it’s unlawful for alcohol providers to serve people who are obviously intoxicated. If an establishment does so, and it results in people getting hurt or killed, the alcohol provider can be held responsible for their role in the accident. Not only is this a potential avenue for seeming them held accountable, but it also can get otherwise negligent establishments to clean up their act so others aren’t harmed in the future.
That’s why it’s important in a situation like this to know if authorities are investigating beyond the crash scene itself.
