Accident Report

May 25, 2026, one person was killed due to a car accident at around 9:36 p.m. along the Central Expressway.

According to preliminary details on the accident, it reportedly happened along the southbound service road near Lookout Drive.

Authorities said that a 68-year-old Corsicana man was on foot at the time along the US 75 service road. While there, a Mercedes-Benz and a GMC struck the man. Due to this, the pedestrian was killed.

The drivers appeared to remain at the scene, and no other details about the accident are available.

How Did This Accident Occur?

People might assume this all comes down to whether or not the victim was in a crosswalk when the collision happened. That is important, and maybe this all comes down to someone failing to yield the right-of-way. However, it’s also important to consider if the pedestrian was at all visible and reasonably avoidable.

I have seen pedestrian accidents where the primary factor was not who had the right-of-way but rather if the driver had any way of avoiding the collision. If someone is visible and far away enough for a driver to slow down, they have to slow down. They don’t get a free pass to run someone over just because that person isn’t in a crosswalk.

So, hopefully authorities are keeping those details in mind as investigations continue. If nothing else, the victim’s loved ones deserve to know that all possible contributing factors are being considered and not just what seems most obvious on the surface.
