How Did This Accident Occur?
When a car strikes a pedestrian on a city road, people tend to just assume that someone failed to yield. My hope in a situation like this is that authorities go beyond that to make sure they’re telling the whole story. For example, roadway design should get some attention, including the lighting in the area, signage, how pedestrian traffic is handled, and whether or not there is a known issue here regarding how pedestrians and vehicles cross paths. If authorities don’t consider those possible contributing factors, they could easily overlook something important.
In the meantime, those local to the area may be able to share some insight on how safe the roadway is for pedestrian traffic.
