Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When incidents like this occur, they can initially seem straightforward: a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision. However, with over 30 years of experience handling commercial vehicle accident cases, I’ve learned that the underlying factors in crashes involving large trucks are rarely simple. Investigating these incidents thoroughly is the only way to uncover the full truth.

What caused the Camaro to veer into oncoming traffic? Was the driver distracted or experiencing a medical emergency? Could mechanical failure, such as a tire blowout or steering malfunction, have played a role? The answers to these questions are crucial for understanding how this tragedy unfolded and whether it might have been avoided.

It’s also important to examine the role of the truck and its operator. Even if the 18-wheeler was not at fault for the collision itself, a thorough review of its maintenance records, driver logs, and operational practices should still be conducted. Any potential contributing factors, such as the truck’s condition or the driver’s adherence to safety regulations, must be carefully evaluated.

Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain critical evidence, it’s essential to examine every factor to ensure those impacted by the incident receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
