Accident Report

May 28, 2026, a motorcyclist was killed as the result of a car accident that happened around 11:55 p.m. along Westheimer Road.

Houston police officials reported that the accident happened in the area of Manis Road, just west of Voss Road along eastbound lanes of Westheimer.

It appears that a 39-year-old man was on a Kawasaki motorcycle going eastbound. A Lexus was also going eastbound when authorities say it crossed multiple lanes to make a u-turn. Doing so, the Lexus reportedly crashed with the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist reportedly died as a result of the collision. Authorities say they arrested the Lexus driver for criminally negligent homicide. Additional details are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

This late at night, I’m much more used to seeing drivers charged with alcohol-related charges following a deadly accident. It is possible that alcohol is what ultimately led to the recommended charges here. Although, there could be other factors that led to authorities making that decision, including drugs, street racing, or some other negligent behavior. Some of these possibilities, such as alcohol, can involve complex legal processes that victims and families need to be prepared for. So if authorities focus too much on looking for blame, it may be up to families to have investigators preserve evidence for their own purposes.
