Accident Report
February 1, 2026, Monique Glenn and one other person were injured in a single-car accident just before 2:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 45.
According to authorities, two people—54-year-old Monique Glenn and a 58-year-old man—were traveling in a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck in a work zone on Gulf Freeway at Texas Avenue when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the pickup truck was involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck at least one object affiliated with the work zone.
Both Glenn and the man who had been behind the wheel reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
At first glance, it might be tempting to attribute this accident to driver error, but I would caution against jumping to those conclusions. I’ve analyzed hundreds of single-vehicle accidents over the years. More often than one might think, there are underlying factors that most people don’t think to look into.
Feel free to leave me a comment to let me know whether or not this is too far-fetched, but this accident took place in a construction zone; were the construction materials safely behind marked boundaries in allocated areas? Were the boundaries of the work zone—warning signs, cones, et cetera—placed in appropriate places in order to give drivers enough warning and keep vehicles out of unsafe routes? On the other hand, did the pickup truck suffer from a steering issue at a critical moment, sending the vehicle off course and into harm’s way?
If authorities in charge of the investigation are thorough, they will do two things. First, they will meticulously go over the evidence at the scene, being open-minded and thinking outside the box. Second, they will make sure they get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the pickup truck. That way, any underlying mechanical malfunctions (such as a steering issue) can be unearthed.
The people affected by this accident deserve more than easy, unsubstantial assumptions that come from subpar investigations. If their investigation leaves much to be desired, then a third-party investigation should be considered.
