Officials indicate that northbound Ford F-150 occupied by a 59-year-old man on Campus Drive was also approaching the intersection. For reasons yet to be confirmed, both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time. The pickup truck attempted to avoid a collision with the other vehicle by swerving to the side. This resulted in the Ford striking a signal light pole. However, a collision with the Cobalt could not, in the end, be avoided.

Both Hardeman and the man from the pickup truck suffered reportedly severe injuries due to the wreck. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is ongoing.
