UPDATE (July 19, 2023): According to information from authorities, one person involved in the crash succumbed to their injuries. That person was a 61-year-old who was in a Chevy Silverado that was going southbound on Loop 571. That vehicle was hit by a westbound Ford Fusion which authorities say went through a stop sign.
The driver of the Chevy was identified as Michael Dean Oliver, who reportedly had incapacitating injuries. A 49-year-old woman in the Chevy and a 22-year-old man in the Ford also had incapacitating injuries. Authorities also clarified that the incident happened just after midnight. Right now, no further information can be confirmed.
Rusk County, TX — June 23, 2023, at least four were injured as the result of a car accident overnight along Loop 471.
According to preliminary details from Rusk County officials, the incident happened in the area of the Loop 571 and Highway 323 intersection.
Right now, the crash and the surrounding factors are still under investigation. Authorities did not provide information about when exactly the crash occurred nor how many vehicles were involved. Their statements right now indicate only that four people were taken to the hospital following a crash along the highway. Three of those people were reportedly taken by ground transport while the fourth had injuries which required air transportation.
There is no indication of what exactly caused the wreck, and authorities do not currently report any pending charges or citations. Investigations are ongoing.
