Generally speaking details like this can make people think things are open-and-shut. But it’s important investigations are always as thorough as possible to understand what all led to the crash. After all, yielding to oncoming vehicles is about the simplest thing a driver can do. Why didn’t that happen here? Was the driver on their phone? Were they fatigued? Were they under the influence of alcohol? Was there an issue with visibility? Is there an issue with this particular intersection that causes accidents? Likely or not, victims and families are best served having as much information telling their side of the story as possible. It’s not often a police investigation alone is going to provide that.
