Tarrant County, TX — August 14, 2024, Michael Hoenig was killed as the result of a motorcycle accident at around midnight along Old Granbury Road.
According to officials, the accident happened in the area of Old Granbury Road and Floyd Hampton Road, just off Crowley Plover Road.

Investigators said that 57-year-old Michael Wayne Hoenig was on a Honda motorcycle going northbound on Old Granbury. An oncoming Volkswagen driver reportedly was fatigued and crossed the center line, causing the vehicle to strike Hoenig. As a result, Hoenig was fatally injured. There were no other reported injuries.

Right now, it’s unclear if any charges or citations were considered. If the reports are true, it would seem like that would be an inevitability. But things aren’t always so straight forward. For example, authorities may have found evidence that alcohol was involved here. That could not only result in serious charges for the at fault driver, but it could even lead to investigations into where that alcohol came from and if a local alcohol provider is also responsible for breaking the law and contributing to the accident. That’s just one example, but accidents aren’t often as straight-forward as people assume. That’s why it’s best when victims and families know investigators are considering all possibilities to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
