Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

There aren’t many confirmed details available right now, so I can only hope authorities have been thorough behind the scenes to get answers for the victims and families involved.

Single-vehicle accidents in particular can be challenging if those involved are killed or seriously injured and not able to give an immediate statement on what happened. On top of that, a construction area can make the scene more delicate for accident reconstructionists, so a hasty or surface-level investigation can easily miss important information.

If authorities are up to that challenge and dedicate the time and tools necessary for getting answers, that’s good. However, a lot of families end up relying on independent investigators when they feel they’re not getting the answers they deserve. The key is making sure that happens as soon as possible before any time-sensitive evidence slips through the cracks.
