Bexar County, TX — August 29, 2024, Luis Medrano Jr. and two others were injured in a car accident at approximately 9:00 p.m. along Braun Road.
According to authorities, 35-year-old Luis Medrano Jr. and a 38-year-old woman were traveling in a southwest bound Chevrolet Equinox SUV on Braun Road in the vicinity of the Mustang Ranch intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northwest bound Chevrolet Corvette occupied by a 28-year-old man failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered over the center turn lane and entered the oncoming lanes of traffic. A collision consequently took place between the front-end of the Corvette and the front-left quarter of the Equinox.
Medrano and the man from the Corvette sustained serious injuries due to the wreck, according to reports. The woman from the Equinox suffered moderate injuries, as well. Those who necessitated it were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a driver veers out of their lane and crosses into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision—as appears to have occurred in this Bexar County crash involving Luis Medrano Jr.—many assume it must have been a moment of distraction or misjudgment. But in my experience, that kind of assumption can lead investigators to overlook critical factors. Especially in serious crashes with multiple injuries, getting to the truth requires starting with three essential questions.
First, did investigators thoroughly analyze the scene and the factors that may have led to the lane departure? The initial question isn’t just that the Corvette crossed the center line, but why. Was the driver attempting to avoid something in the road? Was visibility compromised by low lighting or glare? Were there any road surface issues—such as water, gravel, or potholes—that could have caused a loss of control? These are questions that require more than a basic report. Investigators should review the roadway conditions, vehicle damage patterns, and any surveillance or dashcam footage that might exist in the area.
Second, has anyone looked into whether a mechanical failure could have caused or contributed to the crash? A sudden failure in the Corvette’s steering, braking, or stability control systems could have caused the driver to veer without warning. Similarly, a tire blowout or suspension failure might explain a sudden drift across lanes. On the other side, the severity of the injuries—particularly to those in the Equinox—warrants a close look at whether that vehicle’s safety systems performed properly. These kinds of questions can only be answered through a forensic examination of both vehicles, and that opportunity disappears if they’re repaired or scrapped before inspection.
Finally, has all available electronic data been recovered and reviewed? Both the Corvette and the Equinox are likely equipped with event data recorders that capture crucial pre-crash metrics—speed, brake use, steering angle, and more. This information can be invaluable in determining whether evasive maneuvers were attempted and how each vehicle responded. Investigators should also pursue cell phone data, GPS logs, and any traffic or business surveillance footage nearby to help piece together exactly how and when the crash unfolded.
Answering these three questions is critical to making sure that no stone is left unturned in understanding the causes of a crash like this. Serious wrecks deserve serious investigation, not assumptions. Getting clear answers to these questions is crucial for those seeking to understand what happened and why—and it’s the least that can be done to help those affected find the clarity and closure they deserve.
