Wayne County, IL — April 16, 2025, Lee Ann Crane was injured following a tractor accident that happened around 9:30 a.m. along Highway 15.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 15 and County Road 2300E, east of Fairfield.
Investigators said that 57-year-old Lee Ann Crane was in a Cadillac going westbound along the highway. While attempting to pass vehicles, the Cadillac reportedly crashed into a John Deere sprayer vehicle making a turn at the intersection.
Due to the collision, Crane was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Additional details can’t be confirmed at this time.

It’s not my place to comment on what did or didn’t happen here specifically, but it’s important to keep an open mind reading preliminary accident details. It would surprise people how often authorities rush to conclusions or conduct hasty, incomplete investigations into serious accidents. That’s not always the case, of course. It can be helpful, though, for victims and families to gauge how they feel about answers authorities come up with. If they feel both sides of the story are being told fairly, then it’s probably because authorities let the evidence speak for itself. However, if it seems there are gaps in the story, it may take independent investigations to fill in those gaps and get the whole story.
