Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities did not specify the age of the apparently juvenile truck driver, nor did they say why the truck was being driven by someone so young. Were they supposed to be operating that truck? Are they an inexperienced driver hired by a company that didn’t train the driver or simply rushed them through the hiring process? Was there an owner who negligently allowed a minor to operate a commercial truck? How exactly did this driver, young or not, enter someone’s path on a seemingly straight, clearly visible roadway during daylight hours?
While some may think these are obvious questions, it can surprise folks how often authorities are only looking to find someone to blame so they can file charges or citations. In my experience handling hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases, serious truck accidents like this often involve more than just one problem. It’s important all issues get attention if a victim’s loved ones are going to see accountability for the wrongs done to them. The details surrounding this accident are out of the ordinary, to say the least. That alone raises red flags that a typical crash investigation will likely only scratch the surface of what really led to the victim’s death.
