Stone County, AR — December 27, 2025, Kenneth Cordell was killed as the result of a single-vehicle car accident at around midnight on Highway 14.
Authorities with the Arkansas Department of Public Safety say they responded to the crash off the side of AR 14 between Mountain View and Batesville.
According to current reports, 36-year-old Kenneth C. Cordell was in a Buick traveling eastbound on the highway. For reasons not clear right now, the vehicle ran off the side of the road and overturned. Kenneth Cordell reportedly died in the accident.
DPS officials have not yet released additional details.

Single-vehicle wrecks are among the most common kinds of accidents I get calls about from concerned families. In almost every situation, the families have the same concern: How can they be sure authorities are giving them the whole story? Usually, the answer is to be proactive and ask the authorities directly about their investigations.
In my experience, when authorities are prioritizing the facts and considering a crash from all angles, they can address all kinds of concerns. Did they pull cellphone records? Did they look at road conditions? Is the road design itself dangerous? Is there missing signage or a lack of reflective material or lighting? Did they inspect the victim’s vehicle for potential defects? Are there any signs of a hit-and-run? Are there nearby homes or businesses with cameras that can see the roadway?
Sometimes, authorities address all concerns thoroughly and show they have or are still looking into complex possible factors. That can help reassure families that they’re going to get the whole story. Other times, though, a family might find themselves left with doubts and unanswered questions. That’s when it may be time to bring in independent investigators to go over things and make sure nothing important is slipping through the cracks.
