Maverick County, TX — July 12, 2024, Jose Perez was injured following a motorcycle versus car accident at approximately 9:00 p.m. along Bibb Avenue.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Jose Perez was traveling on a southbound Honda motorcycle on Bibb Avenue in the vicinity south of Yota Drive when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Dodge Charger on Bibb made a left turn onto a private drive at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision between the two vehicles.
Perez suffered reportedly serious injuries over the course of the accident and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Did authorities conduct a thorough investigation into why the left turn was made at an unsafe time? While driver error is a common explanation, investigators should consider whether visibility issues, poor lighting, or other roadway conditions played a role. Were there obstructions that prevented the Dodge driver from seeing oncoming traffic? Was the intersection properly marked and illuminated?
Has anyone looked into potential vehicle issues that could have contributed? If the Dodge experienced brake failure or another mechanical issue, that could have prevented the driver from yielding in time. Similarly, the motorcycle’s speed and braking capability should be reviewed to determine if the rider had a fair chance to avoid the collision.
