A concern that not many people consider is when a crash occurs, and only one person involved is around to tell the story. Folks tend to think authorities have crack CSI teams getting evidence, but that’s not often how things go.
For example, I had a case a while back where two drivers crashed at a traffic light, and both drivers claimed they had the green light. The officer just moved on and left them to figure things out because they thought there wasn’t enough evidence to find out who was telling the truth. Well, not long after one of the drivers brought us onto the case, we found a nearby security camera that authorities completely overlooked. It caught the crash on video, and it clearly showed the other driver running the light.
I can’t say based on preliminary statements what happened here, nor would I without knowing all of the facts. My experience, though, taught me that authorities are not always reliable when it comes to getting those facts. That’s why it sometimes takes a more active approach to find out what police are and aren’t looking into. That way, steps can be taken to ensure a second set of eyes is looking into whatever authorities let slip through the cracks.
