UPDATE (November 4, 2024): Additional reports clarify some of the details pertaining to this accident. According to those reports, 26-year-old Jesus Chappa and a 43-year-old man were traveling in a northeast bound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Coronet Boulevard which was attempting to take a left turn onto Canada Drive. For reasons yet to be confirmed, a collision followed between the left side of the pickup truck and the front-end of the Mustang. The Mustang came to a stop only after also crashing into a wooden post where it caught on fire. The person who had been behind the wheel of the Mustang allegedly fled the scene in a separate vehicle. The investigation continues.

Dallas, TX — September 16, 2024, one person was killed and another was injured in a hit-and-run car accident at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Canada Drive.
According to authorities, two people were traveling in a pickup truck on Canada Drive in the vicinity of the Sylvan Avenue intersection when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a collision took place between the pickup truck and a Ford Mustang. The Mustang allegedly fled the scene of the accident previous to the arrival of emergency personnel. One person from the pickup suffered fatal injuries, according to reports, and was declared deceased at the scene. The other victim sustained reportedly critical injuries due to the wreck; they were transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
