How Did This Accident Occur?
In my experience, distracted driving and unsafe speeds are the most common causes for car accidents like this. Obviously, they deserve attention. But even less common factors need attention, and there are two main reasons for that.
One reason is that something unusual may have caused the crash. A vehicle defect, for instance, can easily slip through the cracks if authorities aren’t using the proper techniques and tools to closely inspect all the vehicles involved in the crash. That could lead them to blame someone for something they couldn’t actually avoid.
Two is that leaving as little room as possible for speculation and blame-shifting helps victims ensure responsibility lies where it’s supposed to. Insurance companies are all too happy to exploit unknowns and muddy the waters if it can help them avoid responsibility. So by ruling out even unlikely possibilities, victims and families are better-equipped to get a proper resolution.
So whether this crash involved something common or something uncommon, the approach should be the same. A serious car accident calls for serious investigations, and I can only hope steps are being taken to see that happens here.
Do you think that’s a fair approach to car accidents, or do you think I’m being overly cautious? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
