Gladewater, TX — November 23, 2024, a woman sustained injuries following a hit-and-run accident at around 1:20 p.m. along South Main Street.
According to initial statements from authorities, the incident took place in the area of the U.S. 271/Main St. and Pacific Avenue intersection.
Investigators reported that there was a 52-year-old woman on foot at the time in the area of South Main Street. While walking, details say that a Jeep Cherokee going northbound struck the woman. As a result, the woman was seriously injured.

If it’s true that this was a hit-and-run, folks may think authorities file charges, and that’s that. Sometimes, though, these situations can get more complex. One important factor to consider is why the driver left the scene. Usually, there’s something specific they wanted to hide from police. For example, I’ve seen evidence show someone was drunk, which could then lead to investigations into an alcohol provider if they negligently over-served the driver and are legally responsible for contributing to the accident. That’s far from an open-and-shut situation, so it’s possible this accident was more complex than initial reports make it seem.
