When authorities suspect alcohol in a crash, it’s important to ask questions about how the driver ended up in that condition. Specifically, were they over-served at a bar or restaurant before the crash?
Under Texas dram shop laws, establishments that serve alcohol to obviously intoxicated patrons can be held accountable if those patrons go on to cause harm. If an alcohol provider contributed to this crash by over-serving the Nissan driver, they may bear responsibility alongside the driver.
Investigating where the driver obtained alcohol is a key step toward getting the full truth and ensuring accountability. Holding alcohol providers accountable when they break the law not only helps the victims but also encourages safer alcohol service practices, reducing the risk of future crashes.
Addressing these questions isn’t just about finding answers for the victims and families affected by a drunk driving crash—it’s about promoting public safety and ensuring that preventable incidents like this don’t happen to someone else’s family.
