Mineral County, NV — July 2, 2024, one person was killed and two others were injured following a head-on truck accident along U.S. Highway 95.
According to authorities, two people were traveling in a northbound 18-wheeler on U.S. 95 between the towns of Luning and Mina when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone; this resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming Saturn Ion occupied by one person. The Saturn reportedly became engulfed in flames as a result of the wreck. The driver of the Saturn suffered fatal injuries due to the crash and was declared deceased at the scene. Both people from the 18-wheeler sustained non-life-threatening injuries, as well; they were each taken to area medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
