One of the challenges with single-vehicle accidents is that they don’t always get the attention they deserve. Not all departments see them as a high priority, so officers may not have the equipment or time they need to dig into complex possible factors. Were there mechanical issues? Did road design flaws lead to the crash? Did a tire blowout? Was there a medical emergency? Was there some other reckless driver who left the scene? Likely or not, investigations should be able to rule out all kinds of possibilities. Otherwise, something important is bound to slip through the cracks. Are steps being taken to ensure that doesn’t happen here?
