Mission, TX — January 17, 2026, Frida Avila was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 5:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83 Business.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2022 Hyundai Elantra was heading west near Los Ebanos Road when it crashed into a concrete barrier.

A passenger, 21-year-old Pharr resident Frida Nahomi Avila, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. Another passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was listed as possibly injured.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman, was charged with intoxication assault after the crash, the report states. She was not injured.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hidalgo County crash at this time.
