Accident Report

July 31, 2026, Ernie Stokes passed away following what OSHA reported as a workplace accident off Masters Road.

In the preliminary OSHA Inspection Details published online, officials listed Odyssey Cheer Company as the employer involved in the incident, and the address of the accident appears to be the location for Odyssey Cheer Company.

Right now, the nature of the accident is unclear. It appears that 42-year-old Ernie Stokes was a cheerleading instructor. Due to unspecified events, Ernie Stokes had to undergo multiple surgeries dating back to early July. Following these surgeries, Ernie Stokes apparently remained in intensive care. According to an obituary, Ernie Stokes passed away on July 31.

OSHA did not specify in their report how the death was related to Ernie Stokes’s work, and their report does not list any alleged violations at this time. The case appears to be ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

There are a lot more questions than answers here, and the last thing I would do is speculate without any clear evidence. What I will say, though, is that getting answers from OSHA and dealing with Texas work accident law can be a daunting task for any family. There are a lot of intricacies and hoops to jump through which OSHA rarely ever helps a family do. Considering Texas has the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country, this can create a sort of legal maze for families who aren’t prepared and informed. So, regardless of what happened here, my hope is that someone looks out for the needs of the victim’s loved ones. That way, they’ll have a clear path to getting answers and to pursuing any sort of resolution that may be available to them under Texas law.
