Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to pedestrian accidents, people are sometimes too quick to jump to conclusions. Despite how important a factor it is, these situations aren’t all about who had the right-of-way. Investigators also need to consider signage, lighting, weather conditions, road markings, vehicle speed, cell phone usage, alcohol, medical conditions, etc. If they’re not careful, authorities may overlook something important just because they didn’t feel it was likely. Meanwhile, the victim’s loved ones are waiting for answers, and that requires having as much evidence as possible. If steps aren’t being taken right now to get that evidence, then it may be that authorities’ efforts alone won’t be enough to find out what really happened here.
