People often look at car accidents as simple due to how common they are. Police find out who did what, and they file charges or citations—plain and simple, right? While that may be what tends to happen, that’s because car accidents don’t often get the attention they actually deserve. There could be multiple factors contributing to an accident, and it’s important investigations are thorough enough to consider them, even if it’s just to rule them out.
For example, it stands out that only one person involved here had reportedly serious injuries. While there is often an unremarkable explanation for this, it’s occasionally the result of a faulty safety device. If, for example, an airbag or seatbelt malfunctions, someone could end up seriously hurt when they otherwise would have been fine. Not only does this open up a potential legal maze for the victim, but it could even point to larger issues putting others at risk.
A thorough inspection of someone’s vehicle may simply rule out that possibility, but it could also catch something serious authorities otherwise overlooked. The point is that treating car accidents as simple, run-of-the-mill chores only makes it more likely that something important will eventually slip through the cracks. Hopefully investigations have been more thorough here.
