Killeen, TX — June 11, 2023, Staff Sgt. Eric Rucker was killed due to an apparent hit-and-run accident at around 2:30 a.m. along East Elms Road.
Preliminary details released about the fatal accident show that it took place along the 1900 block of East Elms Road, which appears to be between W. S. Young Drive and Trimmier Road.

According to officials, a Fort Hood soldier identified as 29-year-old Staff Sgt. Eric Rucker was one of a pair of motorcyclists going along Elms. It appears something fell from Rucker’s motorcycle, and he and the other motorcyclist reportedly stopped to retrieve that item. While Rucker was doing so, authorities say that a sedan struck Rucker, then left the scene.
As a result of the collision, Rucker sustained fatal injuries. The rider was not reported as injured. Right now, authorities say the vehicle that left the scene is likely a smaller gray sedan that will have damage to its front end and its windshield. They encourage anyone with information to contact authorities.
