Plano, TX — May 25, 2024, Edwin Sanchez Leal was injured as the result of a car accident at around 1:24 a.m. along U.S. Highway 75.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened in the area of the Central Expressway and Legacy Drive intersection.
Investigators said that 30-year-old Edwin Sanchez Leal was in a vehicle going along northbound lanes of U.S. 75. Somehow, the vehicle left its lane, went to the right side of the road, and crashed into yellow impact barrels.
Due to the accident, Edwin Sanchez Leal sustained serious injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. No further information is available right now.

One of my main concerns following any serious accident like this: was the driver able to give a statement about what happened? Generally speaking, the evidence should be a priority when investigating any car accident. But a prudent investigator will make sure those involved in the crash have their opportunity to tell their side of the story. This can be challenging if someone is seriously injured and taken from the scene without speaking to authorities, and early-morning crashes don’t always have clear witnesses. If authorities were thorough here and able to follow up with the victim, that’s a good sign they took investigations seriously. But if they simply moved on without speaking to the victim, it unfortunately wouldn’t be too surprising.
