Haskell County, KS — April 27, 2023, Eddie Massey sustained injuries due to a semi-truck accident early Thursday on U.S. Highway 56.
Preliminary details provided by authorities say that the crash took place at 6:53 a.m. east of Satanta at the intersection of U.S. Highway 56 and County Road II.
According to public reports, 79-year-old Eddie Massey was said to be the driver of a GMC Suburban going along U.S. Highway 56. Ahead, it appears that a Mack truck was stopped and waiting to make a left turn onto County Road II. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC did not slow down in time approaching the Mack truck. As a result, it crashed into the back of the truck.
Details say that Massey was taken from the scene with injuries that appeared to be serious. The Mack truck drive was apparently uninjured. No one else was reportedly involved in the crash. Factors surrounding the collision are still under investigation by authorities.
