Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When it comes to motorcycle wrecks, a primary concern is just making sure the investigations get the attention they deserve. Frankly, a lot of people are biased against motorcyclists, and that can lead to people jumping to conclusions—even the authorities. As such, it sometimes takes a secondary look from independent investigators to actually dig into the evidence.

What were road conditions like? Did the vehicle have mechanical issues? Was there another reckless driver who left the scene? Is there an issue with road design here? Are there nearby cameras that caught things on video?

If authorities don’t set their bias aside and consider all possible factors, they may overlook something important. That’s why it’s often important to treat accidents like this with reasonable skepticism until it’s clear that investigators have given the crash fair, careful consideration.
