Harris County, TX — January 23, 2025, Dodeus Manolescu was injured following a truck accident shortly before 2:30 p.m. along Bay Area Boulevard.
According to authorities, 56-year-old Dodeus Manolescu was traveling in a westbound Ford Expedition on Bay Area Boulevard in the vicinity east of Red Bluff Road when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Freightliner on a private drive attempted to enter the roadway at an unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to roadway traffic. This resulted in a collision between the left side of the Freightliner and the front-end of the Expedition.
Manolescu suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident, according to reports. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a commercial truck enters a roadway at the wrong time and fails to yield to oncoming traffic, the key question isn’t just what happened, but why it happened. In my experience handling truck accident cases, crashes like this often stem from more than just a simple driver mistake—there are often underlying issues that need to be examined.
One possibility is driver distraction. Large trucks pulling onto a busy roadway require careful attention to gaps in traffic, but in-cab distractions such as GPS devices, dispatch communications, or even cell phones can take a driver’s focus away from the road. Investigators should review dashcam footage, phone records, and in-cab data to determine whether distraction played a role in the driver’s failure to yield.
Another critical factor is whether the truck driver had a clear view of oncoming traffic. Private driveways and business exits sometimes have obstructed sightlines, and a truck pulling out of one must ensure they have enough time and space to merge safely. Investigators should determine whether the truck driver had an unobstructed view before entering the roadway.
Fatigue is another potential concern. While this accident happened in the early afternoon, the truck driver’s schedule leading up to the crash matters. If they had been on the road for an extended period or working long hours without proper rest, their ability to judge gaps in traffic and make safe driving decisions could have been compromised. Hours-of-service logs and electronic logging device (ELD) data will be important in determining whether fatigue played a role.
The trucking company’s role should also be examined. Was the driver properly trained to handle merging onto roadways safely? Were they under pressure to complete deliveries on a tight schedule? A company that prioritizes efficiency over safety can create conditions where drivers take unnecessary risks. Reviewing company policies and training records can help determine whether this was an isolated mistake or part of a larger pattern.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain critical evidence, it’s essential to examine every factor to ensure those impacted by the incident receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
