Daniel Hunt Alleged Intoxicated Driver Accident in Carrollton, TX

Investigators say that 66-year-old Daniel Thomas Hunt was in a Chevy Equinox going westbound along the toll road. An approaching Ford Fusion reportedly failed to control speed and slammed into the back of Hunt. Hunt’s vehicle then crashed into the barrier. The Ford reportedly left the scene but then crashed again, and authorities were able to identify the driver.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

The Ford driver is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. If that’s true, it’s a bit unusual to see drunk driving so early in the day. To be clear, though, it’s not at all unheard of. I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving drunk drivers who were unlawfully over-served by an alcohol provider. So long as businesses are open, there are places who have no qualms with getting customers dangerously intoxicated and sending them on their way.

Brunch spots, sports bars, grocery stores, liquor stores, gas stations—I’ve seen just about every type of provider contribute to crashes at just about every time of day. That’s why I have to wonder if authorities have looked into where this alleged drunk driver got their alcohol from. It’s possible there’s an accomplice to all of this who also needs to face consequences.
