UPDATE (December 11, 2024): Recent reports have been released which state that the vehicle involved in this accident, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, failed to heed the stop sign on 9th street, entering the intersection at an apparently unsafe time; this resulted in a collision between the truck and the bicycle. McAllen, TX — November 13, 2024, Daniel Codina was killed in a bicycle versus car accident at approximately 12:00 midnight along West Highway 83.
According to authorities, 68-year-old Daniel Codina was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of the West Highway 83 and South Hibiscus Street intersection when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. The weather and road conditions in the are at the time have not yet been reported. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the bicycle was struck by a motor vehicle. Codina suffered reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
